Local History at Prescot Museum.
Collections
There are over 12000 objects reflecting Prescot’s colourful characters, customs and traditions as well as important local industries such as the British Insulated Callender Cableworks (BICC), mining and pottery.
We are always interested in viewing possible additions to our collections so if you have items of historic interest, particularly linked to the history of Knowsley, then please feel free to contact us.
Identification and valuation
Unfortunately we cannot offer valuation services but if you have an item which you would like more information about bring it to us and we will do our best to tell you its story.
Local history information service
This is available to answer your queries about local history where we can. Many areas of interest are covered, with free information leaflets for you to take away. We have a large archive of material available for you to view including information about the borough’s towns, local industries, churches and local clubs and activities. These include maps and images which we can provide copies of for a nominal fee.
Loans, Donations and Bequests
Knowsley Museum and Heritage service has a collection which has developed to tell the story of local history across the whole of Knowsley.
We are always keen to add to our collection if items fit within our strict policy and we have the capability to store and conserve the items donated.
